Emergency Contact
Emergencies during travel
If you are a permanent resident or visa holder and are referred to secondary inspection at an airport or land port-of-entry, you should immediately take the following steps:
and email globalrisk@stanford.edu flagging the message as URGENT and providing the following information in the email:
- Photos of the biographic page of their passport and visa/permanent resident card
- Phone number and current location (airport or port-of entry)
- Flight information
- Countries visited during their travel
- Stanford school/program affiliation
- A brief summary of their conversation with primary and secondary CBP officers.
You may use this template to draft the email to Global Risk, which you can prepare ahead of time to have ready to send if necessary.
If you are refused boarding for a U.S. bound flight in a location where passengers are inspected by U.S. Customs and Border Protection overseas, or if you are returned to a foreign location after arriving at a U.S. airport, Global Risk can work with the nearest Embassy or Consulate to determine if there is a path to help you return to the United States.
